FINDING GODREVY: CRAIG UNDERHILL
Since relocating to West Cornwall recently from the West Midlands, award-winning ceramicist Craig Underhill's new collection of visually rich and evocative, tactile slab-built ceramics was created here in Cornwall during the Covid-19 'lock-down'.
Craig's exploration and 'discovery' of the unpeopled, dramatic, and beautiful coastal landscapes of Godrevy, found on his new doorstep, inspired him to make the Finding Godrevy collection. Informed initially through drawing and painting on location, Craig uses innovative techniques of surface mark-making and layering of engobes, slips, underglaze colours, and glazes onto handbuilt slab forms, to create works which are painterly and elemental.
