Porthminster Gallery features in The Times top ten galleries to visit

by The Times chief art critic Rachel Campbell-Johnson

We are delighted that the gallery has just been featured on The Times chief art critic Rachel Campbell-Johnston's shortlist of the 10 top galleries from around the country to visit and buy works from when reopened on Monday 12 April.

— and what yoU
can buy at them

Rachel Campbell-Johnston writes of the Porthminster Gallery:

"…the only space in this tourist hotspot that still sells original pieces by St Ives painters. Its exhibition Collect runs the gamut from a delicate monotype drawing of the town by Wilhelmina Barnes-Graham to Terry Frost abstracts that capture the colours and the rhythms of its life. Forget all those shops that sell model seagulls and sailing ships; invest in your own."

Rachel also picked Patrick Caulfield's signed silkscreen print And I am alone in my house from our current exhibition COLLECT: MODERN ART for her 'fantasy shopping list', and we can see why: the topical title says it all, following a year long lockdown.

And I am alone in my house
