Michael Polat gains inspiration for his paintings from many things, but mainly from his life in St Ives – his home since 1999. He has a very deep bond with the place and is particularly connected to Nature and the landscape’s unique ‘sense of place’, which he finds great beauty in.
Michael Polat was born in 1971 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He studied Modern Art at the Frankfurter Akademie, 1986, and Fashion and Interior Design in Berlin, 1987 – 1988. His first exhibition was at the Berliner Galerie, in 1987.
